(Finally) Yuri!!! on Ice
Howdy goody!
It's already 2021! Although it's late but, happy new year! May this year be kinder than last year because 2020 sucks. One of my resolutions this year is to write regularly so that I will not forget who I am and keep being sane.
Pft, why am I getting so serious out of blue?
If I wrote about post-breakup back in 2019 (lmao), now I'm going to open this year with a falling-in-love themed kind of post? But instead of falling in love as in falling in love, I'm going to bring up my experience of falling in love with an anime called Yuri!!! on Ice. It's about a figure skater named Katsuki Yuri who was in a slump because of losing and his journey to get back on figure skate with his idol turned to be his coach, Victor Nikiforov.
It's a quite famous anime, I believe? I saw it on my Twitter timeline often but because I rarely watch anime, so I didn't think I would actually watch it. After I watched it, I thought of why didn't I watch this anime sooner? Yep, your girl has fallen in love with its art and also, emotions.
Cries.
First of all, the art. I'm not an expert on animation and art, nor I'm an artistic person, yet this anime has the art that moves the heart.
Before you scroll even further, this writing is 100% based on my opinion. If you have different opinions or things I should know related to the topics, you can leave a comment or contact me through social media, okay?
Back to the art that moves the heart. The studio that brought this anime to life deserves praises! I really love every scene where they figure skated because, oh, how I love beautiful things. Every movement is art, every flower thrown to the ice rink is art, every jump is art, every expression they made on that ice rink is art. To sum up, everything is so artistic that I consider it as art.
The animation is so detailed to the point of you can't miss even a small detail, yet they managed to make something to get all of our attention so we don't even have time to focus on anywhere else. Unless you pause and squint your eyes to get the small details, you'll get too absorbed to notice. Honestly, I even had to rewatch some scenes because I didn't really focus on the conversation. For example, the scene where Victor cried. His tears were like...glass. So beautiful.

Oh, by the way, it's a sports anime. Despite the very strong undertone of BL, it is, in fact, a sports anime. I'm not kidding about the undertone, though. It is faint but it is there. So, my advice, if you aren't comfortable with it, you can think again before you watch this anime. But if you are okay with a little bit of BL, I highly recommend this anime.
